First edition with pale pink letters, released March 23, 1956. LPM = Longplay Popular Music. Contrary to
common belief, M is not for Mono. Vinyl was not pressed in Stereo until 1958, only Mono existed in 1956.

is credited as Public Domain (P. D.) on this very first print. Indianapolis pressing (-3S/-1S) has the same label.

Early 1956 buyers of Elvis' first LP in the New York area received this
very rare promotional photo, made by Moss Photo Service, Inc.

 

 

First edition, Indianapolis pressing (-6S/-5S), black RCA label with dog on top. The original owner bought
this record for $3.98 on October 16, 1956. Rockaway pressing (-19S/-14S) has the same label.

 

 

First edition, Rockaway pressing (-11S/-9S), black RCA label with dog on top. This
label with the "New Orthophonic" tag top center was discontinued in spring 1959.

 

 
 

LSP-1254(e): First stereo (electronically reprocessed) edition with revised layout, released in February 1962.
Very early copies (above) were mistakenly printed without "(e)". These are very rare and highly sought-after today.

 

 

Rare 1962 "Jagged Stereo" edition, Rockaway pressing (-8S/-2S), black RCA label
with dog on top. Indianapolis pressing (-5S/-4S) uses the same, identical label.

 

 

1962 revision of the cover with catalog number removed from the logo box to make it possible to use the front slic for both LPM and
LSP. Early mono copies came with first edition records, but this layout was also used for second (11/63) and third (10/64) editions.

 

 

Rare and short-lived second mono edition, Hollywood pressing (-20S/-12S), black
RCA Victor label with dog on top (Silver Top Mono), released November 1963.

 

 

The "Jagged Stereo" and "Silver Top Mono" records came in the second version of all Elvis inner sleeve.

 

 

Third and last mono edition, Rockaway pressing (-22S/-14S), black RCA Victor label with Monaural at
the bottom, released in October 1964 and used until the introduction of the orange label, late 1968.

 

 

The White Top Monaural record first came in the fourth version of all Elvis inner sleeve (21-112-1-40B).
